Candidate:
Michigan Supreme Court (Full Term)

David Viviano
Nonpartisan

David Viviano

David Viviano currently serves on the Michigan Supreme Court. He was appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder in February 2013 to fill a vacancy after the resignation of Diane Hathaway. From 2011 until his Supreme Court appointment, Viviano had served as chief judge of the Macomb County 16th Circuit Court. He’d been elected to the circuit court in 2006 for a six-year term.

Following his appointment to the Michigan Supreme Court in 2013, he won the election in November 2014 – with 62% of the statewide vote in a three-way race – to finish the remainder of Hathaway’s eight-year term, through 2016.

Viviano graduated from Hillsdale College and the University of Michigan School of Law. He previously worked at Dickinson Wright in Detroit and Jenner & Block in Chicago before starting his own firm in Mount Clemens. He also worked as city attorney for Center Line, Michigan.

In 2004 he ran as a Republican candidate for Macomb County prosecutor but lost that race. He won election in 2006 to a six-year term on the Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens. Viviano is married to Neran Viviano. The couple has four children and live in Sterling Heights.
