Dharma Akmon

Dharma Akmon is an assistant research scientist and director of project management and user support at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research's ICPSR. This is her first bid for elected public office.

As part of her work with ICPSR, Akmon also is director of the National Archive of Data on Arts & Culture. She has worked at ICPSR since 2016, initially as a research investigator. She also served as associate director for SEAD (Sustainable Environment/Actionable Data) Project.

Akmon is a member of the League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor Area and has served as moderator for the League's local candidate forums. She also volunteers for the Crisis Text Line.

Akmon earned a doctorate from the University of Michigan School of Information. She holds an undergraduate degree in history from Michigan State University.

Akmon is married to Devon Akmon, a senior consultant with the DeVos Institute of Arts Management. They live on Ann Arbor's southwest side.

Akmon is serving as her own campaign treasurer.
