OUTCOME: Angela Davis and Bill Milliken Jr. were elected to the Washtenaw Community College board of trustees. With 65.87% turnout, Davis and Milliken received 15.21% and 15.36% of votes, respectively. For more results, check the Washtenaw County elections site.

Dilip Das is assistant vice provost for academic affairs at the University of Michigan. He was appointed to the Washtenaw Community College board by a vote of the board in October 2015, following the resignation of Pam Horiszny. This is his first bid for elected office.

Prior to his job in the provost’s office, Das served as project manager for UM’s International Institute. He previously was executive director of New Canaan Nature Center, and before that was manager of natural areas & interpretation for the Geneva Park District. He began his career as a public school teacher and coach in Minnesota and then as an international school biology teacher and coach in India. 

Dilip received a bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Olaf College in 1985, a master’s degree in environmental education from Northern Illinois University in 1988, and a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Toledo in 2013. He is on the board of the Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor. He and his wife, Janice Das, have two daughters and live on Ann Arbor’s west side.
