Joe Miriani
Joe Miriani is a former autoworker who retired from the General Motors Powertrain Willow Run Plant in Ypsilanti. He ran unopposed in the Aug. 7 Republican primary and faces incumbent Democrat Andy LaBarre in the Nov. 6 general election.
Miriani ran for the same seat in 2014. At the time, he told the Ann Arbor Observer that he was running only so that there would be a Republican on the ballot. He received 22.54% of the votes and lost that election to LaBarre.
This year on Aug. 7, Miriani was elected as a Republican precinct delegate in the City of Ann Arbor for Ward 3, Precinct 8. He lives on the city's east side, near Pittsfield Elementary School.
Miriani is serving as treasurer for his campaign.
