Steve Simpson is president of the Jackson campus of Baker College, a private, nonprofit institution focused on career education. This is his first bid for elected office.
Simpson has been working in higher education for eight years, focusing his research for the past five years on educational access through educational technology. He serves on several boards in Jackson, including the Enterprise Group, Jackson Anchor Initiative, Imagine Jackson 2020, and Jackson County Cradle to Career. He also is vice president for the nonprofit Ann Arbor Youth Football.
Simpson holds doctorate and master's degrees in educational leadership from Argosy University in Phoenix, Arizona, and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Michigan. He is married to Tami Simpson, an adjunct faculty member of Baker College Online. The couple and their three children live in the Buhr Park neighborhood.
