As part of her work as AAPS trustee, Baskett serves on the board's planning committee and Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools (RAHS).

In her most recent re-election bid, in November 2014, Baskett placed 1st in a field of 10 candidates, winning one of four seats with 17,121 votes (15% of votes cast).

Baskett holds a bachelors degree in sociology from the University of Michigan, an MBA from Duke University, and a graduate certificate in healthcare management from Eastern Michigan University.

Baskett lives on Ann Arbor's east side, in the neighborhood near Scarlett Middle School. She has an adult son who graduated from Community High School.
