The seven-member Washtenaw Community College Board of Trustees provides oversight and sets policy for the college, and is responsible for the hiring and evaluation of WCC’s president. These are nonpartisan, unpaid positions with six-year terms. This year, two seats are on the Nov. 8 ballot and there are 10 candidates, so the top two vote-getters will be elected. One of the incumbents, Stephen Gill, is not seeking re-election.
Roughly 18,000 students register for in-person and online courses each year. WCC’s campus is located in Superior Township, between Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. It has a budget of roughly $104 million and is supported by countywide taxes.
